Bracken was already showing signs of SCA 7  before his sister Mearan passed away. After her diagnosis was found, Bracken was also tested and found to be positive. Every day Bracken lost more strength and ability. He was legally blind and had significant brain loss in both the cerebellum and the cerebrum, which indicated the final stages of SCA7. Bracken was no longer able to walk without being held up. Because of swallowing problems, he was fed through a g-tube into his stomach. His cognitive ability had dropped to that of a much younger child. Bracken’s entire body shook – hands, arms, legs and head and he struggled with seizures, low tone and respitory problems. Yet Bracken was a happy little boy and enjoyed his life to the fullest. He loved to play with action figures and had a wonderful imagination.

February 20, 2005, after many long months full of frustration, pain and sadness because his mind and body wouldn't do what he wanted them to do anymore, Bracken passed into Jesus loving arms, where he is now playing and dancing
with his beloved baby sister Mearan. They are both whole and healed and eternally happy.
