BLANKET PARTY!!!!!

When a child lives with the constant, day to day presence of doctors, medications, hospitals and just not feeling 100% every day, a soft and warm blanket to snuggle up with can mean a great deal.

Our goal is to make sure each of our Tumbleweed children will have one of these comforting blankets.  And we need your help to do that.

The directions for the popular, hand-tied fleece blankets is listed below, but please feel free to make any type of blanket you would like - quilted, crocheted, etc.  As long as the blanket is made with tender loving care, we want them.

If you are interested in blessing one or many of our special children, please contact Kim.  She will provide you with further instruction and also give you shipping directions.  Please let her know how many blankets you are willing to make and when you expect to have them completed.

Thank you so much for your generosity and unselfish willingness to bless these awesome and special children!!  Thank you!!

THIS IS A GREAT SERVICE PROJECT FOR SCOUT GROUPS, YOUTH MINISTRIES, AND OTHER SCHOOL GROUPS!

We are going to send a hand-tied fleece blanket for each of the children we have featured.  If you would like to make one,  you can follow the directions below, or do them as you know how.  The blanket does not have to be a hand tied fleece blanket, but if you are craft challenged as I am, I can assure you, these are fast and easy to make!  Below are some directions I have followed.  If you have questions, or plan to make one or a few, please email Suzi, and let her know how many you will make, and when you expect to complete them.  She will give you further instructions on who to send them too.  Thanks!

Directions for a "no-sew" hand tied fleece blanket

No Sew Fleece Blanket

Fabric needed:

at least 1 1/4 yards of 2
coordinating fleece fabrics - preferably one print, one solid

1. Lay out the 2 pieces of fleece on on top of the other, edges even.

2. Trim the selvages on all 4 sides of fleece. (Cut through both fabrics at one time.)

3. Cut a 6 inch square from each corner of the blanket.

4. Cut strips 1" wide and 6" deep around all four sides of the blanket.

5. After the strips are cut, join the two pieces of the blanket together using a overhand knot - tie the front and back fringe together (loop swoop and pull knot) the whole way around the blanket. Be careful not to pull too hard, you could stretch the fabric out and distort your blanket.

6. When all four sides are tied, your blanket is complete! Estimated time to complete - 2 hours.  If you work on it with a friend, one can cut, while the other ties, and you can complete a blanket in an hour!
